LaShonta Edwards is the culmination of a strong Chicago foundation with determination She is an example of what brains, compassion, entrepreneurial spirit mixed with a warrior mentality can accomplish. Her passion for serving parents grew out of her lived experience as Certified Surgical Technologist. Since 2002, LaShonta has worked as a Surgical Tech and much of that experience has been in Labor and Delivery, assisting the doctors with birth, whether vaginal or cesarean. While working in Labor and Delivery, LaShonta found that the support of those during the birthing process was very scarce and many families often felt powerless during the decision-making processes. These circumstances are what led her to train with StillBirthday and Pro Doula, enabling her to share her compassion with families. She is currently trained as a Birth, Postpartum and Infant care as well as a Bereavement Doula and an Infant Feeding Specialist. She plans to expand her scope and continues to learn through furthering her education. She is currently training to become and Infant Sleep Educator and, Childbirth Educator.
